We've released a Patch to solve the recently discovered issues with Database Compatability that affect some aspects of Visual Log when using MySQL/SQL Server as your back end database. As usual the main release packages have been updated to reflect these changes but existing users can download Visual Log 201f1 Patch 1 to correct the issues.

Apologies for any problems caused as a result of these bugs, remember to let us know if you ever find anything that appears to be a bug in Visual Log.

It has recently come to our attention that there are a number of issues with Database Compatability when using MySQL/SQL Server as your back end database for Visual Log. We are currently working on a new version of Visual Log which will deliver signifcantly improved features and as such we are not in a position to push all our compatability fixes into a Patch for the current version.

I imagine most people are using Access as the database as it's easiest to set up but please be aware that using some versions of MySQL/SQL Server with the current version will not work correctly.

I am working to fix the issues but can't give a time frame for this currently.

We've just added another Colour Scheme for Visual Log called Black Light, it's a bright Neon Blue design on a Black Background with predominantly White Text and Neon Blue Titles & Links. You can Download Black Light Colour Scheme now!

We've also reposted the packages for the latest version of Visual Log to include a minor CSS fix to the Black & White Colour Scheme (used for Printer Friendly Content View)

After delaying the release slightly in order to solve a minor issue we have now publicly released Visual Log 2.0.1 Final Release 1. As always the new release offers improved stability and a number of new Features including:

• Social Bookmarking Integration with CMS and Blogs

We've experienced some downtime in the past couple of days due to a minor flaw in the new site statistics feature. While we think we have now fixed the problem we will probably delay the release of the new version by a few days to ensure that the issue does not recur and has been rectified.

You may have noticed from the Social Bookmarking Links now accompanying this and all Blog Entries that we have upgraded the site to the latest version of Visual Log (VLog 2) which we plan to release next week on 10th September.

Key New Features are:

Having sorted the IT woes from earlier in the month and now having got the faulty Memory modules replaced (thanks to eBuyer for excellent service) development is now back on track. We've also recently moved servers so apologies for any disruption that may of caused.

Visual Log is now back on track for a mid-September release of the Update, I'm most of the way to having finished all the key new features and fixing various niggling bugs. New features are going to include powerful extensible Keyword Tagging for Blogs and Content Management with a new intergrated Tag Search feature. We'll also be introducing Banner Header, Logo Box and Blog Month by Month Summariser Modules to provide more Layout flexibility particular for those who use a fixed Colour Scheme and want to integrate their Banners and Logos. One of the neatest new features is Mobile Device Detection which allows Visual Log to spot users accessing the site using Mobiles and PDAs and present a ultra simple version of the site (with option to switch to full site if desired) which includes a special Mobile Header.

Other updates to come include a useful new Windows script for Network Admins for deleting Roaming Profiles from local machines in a bulk automated manner. This will be up next week when I'm back at the day job and can upload the Scripts.

Just to keep everyone who might have taken an interest in work on our upcoming new products in our Printer Management Suite or in the next version of Visual Log informed that all work has been delayed by major issues with my workstation PC. This will likely push back release dates into late autumn (october) rather than late august/september as previously hoped.

We've finally released the long overdue Prohibited Words Filter Component for VLog 2 which allows you to filter words/terms you deem offensive from Rendered Content (CMS, Blogs and Comments) on your website.

You can Download Prohibited Words Filter to start using it now.

It is fully customisable allowing any word/term to be filtered out as desired and for the style of filtering to be changed. It supports fully/partially starring out words and striking through of text.
