A couple of weeks ago we released the first public Alpha of our C# API for RDF which is called dotNetRDF. The first Alpha provides support for all the standard RDF syntaxes and a full in-memory SPARQL implementation.

Just a quick note for those who may have noticed the lack of recent updates but I've been working on my PhD research one of the results of which is my continually evolving dotNetRDF library. I've just revised the roadmap to push back the first Alpha release in order to give myself time to finish implementing local SPARQL support in the library.

We've released a new Patch for the current version of Visual Log which fixes a Database Transactions issue identified on Monday. Apologies for any inconvinience caused but applying the Patch should only take 5 minutes and simply requires you to upload the updated versions of some files to your server.

Get Visual Log 210b1 Patch 1 now, note that existing Visual Log packages for the full Installer and Upgrade have been updated to include this patch so new installations and upgrades need not install the patch separately. Packages on SourceForge have also been updated with the Patch.

We've now installed and are live testing the upcoming new release of Visual Log on this website. If you spot any bugs then please report them by using the Contact Us page or clicking Email Blogger below this Blog Entry.

You'll notice improvements in the software such as inline Commenting, Subscription and Email in the Blogs view all powered by our new AJAX and JavaScript libraries. Also Tags are now clickable allowing you to view a list of all content with a given Tag easily and discover related content in that way. There are also major improvments to the Core Library including a much more effective Link Integrity checker and a new Version History system. In addition the Admin interface has been improved which includes a rewritten Editor that is compatible with more browsers plus Administrators now have the option of having the Quick Actions bar visible on all Pages which speeds up site management considerably.

We're planning a late January release as we want to let the new software run for a while to make sure we haven't missed any bugs.

We've released a Patch to solve the recently discovered issues with Database Compatability that affect some aspects of Visual Log when using MySQL/SQL Server as your back end database. As usual the main release packages have been updated to reflect these changes but existing users can download Visual Log 201f1 Patch 1 to correct the issues.

Apologies for any problems caused as a result of these bugs, remember to let us know if you ever find anything that appears to be a bug in Visual Log.

It has recently come to our attention that there are a number of issues with Database Compatability when using MySQL/SQL Server as your back end database for Visual Log. We are currently working on a new version of Visual Log which will deliver signifcantly improved features and as such we are not in a position to push all our compatability fixes into a Patch for the current version.

I imagine most people are using Access as the database as it's easiest to set up but please be aware that using some versions of MySQL/SQL Server with the current version will not work correctly.

I am working to fix the issues but can't give a time frame for this currently.
