Overview
Visual Log 2x (often shortened to VLog 2) is a powerful Content Management System and Blogging Tool which lets you rapidly create complex websites and allows you to expand the software's capabilities without ever having to edit the code yourself!!

Key Features
- Simple Blogging means you can easily run a categorized Blog whose content is produced by multiple site administrators. Visitor interaction includes leaving Comments on Blog Entries, Email Subscription and Communication plus the chance to participate in Opinion Polls. New Features recently added include Inline AJAX powered Commenting, Subscription and Email.
- Contains a Powerful Content Management System which lets you create large collections of pages which are easily managed and organised. Advanced features include internal Link Integrity Checking and automated Version History tracking for Pages which lets you return to earlier versions of a Page and even recover deleted Pages! New Features recently added include improvements to the Admin process.
- Advanced Security keeps your website secure by constantly checking user permissions and controlling access to Administration features. Tiered Privileges allow you to limit the level of control Administrators have over the system.
- Fully multilingual software means you can translate Visual Log into any language you wish and offer your visitors the ability to see your site in their native language!
- Highly Flexible Design lets you change Colour Schemes and Site Layouts easily. You can also install optional extra features without ever editing code! New Features recently added allow you to perform instant update editing of Layouts without needing to refresh the page or access an Admin page.
Recent Changes
The following is a summary of the key recent changes in Visual Log:
- Improvements to the Tagging features introduced in the previous version
- New Link Integrity Editor ensures even more of your links are correct and allows you to correct them with a single click without leaving the Editor interface
- New Version History provides Versioning for Blogs as well as Content
- Range of new AJAX based JavaScript libraries provides a richer UI for end users and administrators
Downloads
Software Requirements
Visual Log 2x requires an ASP capable server which basically means any Windows Server OR any non-Windows server with Apache and an appropriate ASP Emulator installed.
Visual Log 2x is database driven and supports Microsoft Access, SQL Server 2000 (and higher) and MySQL 4.0 (and higher) databases. You will need to be able to use one of these databases on your webserver! Note: Only MySQL is supported on non-Windows servers!
Some features will require a server providing latest implementation of MSXML 6.0
On some newer Windows Servers the Microsoft JET OLEDB Driver is no longer available and so Access cannot be used with those Servers.
Use of MySQL requires the MyODBC 3.51 Driver installed on your Server
To get the latest Core (the basic software) just Download Visual Log
For reference the current version is 2.1.0 Beta 1
Visual Log 2x is licensed as freeware under the GNU GPL for any use.
If you are running on a non-Windows server then you may need to Download VLog System Converter to get the software to run correctly. FAQs: Installation Problems describes the situation in which this tool will be needed as it depends on the web servers set-up! You may also need to enable Parent Paths for your ASP application if using IIS 7.0

Patches
We release Patches when we identify bugs that can cause visible error conditions in the software that need speedy correction. Please ensure you download all relevant Patches as they are released, note that if you downloaded Visual Log after the date a patch was released the Patch will already be in the full version of the software!
Upgrades
If you are using a previous version of Visual Log and want to take advantage of the new features offered in the latest version(s) then you can download Upgrades for the software which can then be applied as described in How To: Install a System Upgrade. You must download all upgrades for versions newer than the one you are currently using (latest upgrade shown at top of list):
